Rango Walks the Walk!

Last night I went to the movies with my family to see Rango.
I didn’t really know what to expect. I like most of Johnny Depp’s work and I also love a good western. I think I was worried about it being too cutesy. This was not an issue at all.

It had appropriately gnarled old animal characters. And, it was just so much fun! I haven’t enjoyed a movie that much for a while. The animation was just fantastic. Atmospherically, the town, and the desert were just so beautifully done. Also, the soundtrack was so cool.

Of course the storyline is what’s important. The protagonist is this funny little lizard who is keeps asking himself “Who am I?” He eventually encounters The “Spirit of the West” who shows him the way. I’m not giving anymore away. I enthusiastically recommend Rango to anyone who likes a good western or film in general. There were nods to great western films all over the place but it wasn’t glaring and didn’t interrupt the feel of the movie itself. This is definitely on my “DVDs To Buy” list. If you have kids, go ahead and take them but be aware that there is plenty of guns and explosions throughout.
