Ok, this is a bit overdue and not really a review but I went to this show at The Blvd to catch up with some old friends. The bands that I actually saw were, La Beastia and The Stains and of course they were just too cool. I didn't get there in time to see the other bands, Cara De Mil Putazos and Aztlan Underground, but heard their performances were great. The show was actually filmed by Pat and Jake who are some good friends of James Alvarado so it may show up here and there or maybe even parts used in his upcoming film about ELA Punk Rock.
I actually read a review of the club prior to going and found it hilarious. It was said to be in the hood of the hood, which is totally ridiculous. Boyle Heights is not that bad. So, the place has a bar and a separate room for the stage. There is also a spacious patio for the smokers and where people can chat. All in all, it was a pretty cool time. We were able to say hi to some old friends, who we had lost touch with over the years. It was pretty crowded but not so crowded that you couldn't walk around a bit.
My husband had a good time. There was actually a pit but he couldn't participate due to his current injury. It's very cool, running into everybody all these years later. We really don't go out to shows that much. It's always work/home, work/home. But, on the occasions that we do, it's good to see some familiar faces. Well, we thank the bands for the great music as well as to Manny and Letty for treating us to a good show. [edit: date corrected]
